Here is one of the most patriotic gravesites you will ever see in the cemetery whose most famous decedent wrote the "Star-Spangled Banner." This bronze statue stands four foot high and is very unique to Mount Olivet as it depicts a non-commissioned officer from the US Army representing the era of World War II.  It marks the grave of Carroll Ruffert Wetzel (1920-2004). Staff Sergeant Wetzel was a Prisoner of War and recipient of both a Silver Star and Purple Heart as designated on his military issue grave marker.
