greatly Two separate weekend workshop opportunities coming in April 2026 to train in gravestone repair and gravestone cleaning! FREE

SESSION 1: GRAVESTONE RESTORATION WORKSHOP
Our Mount Olivet gravestone restoration team under the direction of the Friends of Mount Olivet will show participants our achievements in cleaning and repairing gravestones. Ray Crough and Bob Linehauser and others  from our FOMO team will give an historic overview on stone types and styles, explain how damage and wear occurs, and will demonstrate how to fix gravestones utilizing some of our monuments in need of help. They will also share tips of the trade and train participants in the basics with hands-on opportunity to get hands dirty.

Free to participate or just watch as all are welcome. Dress appropriately and bring a lawn chair if needed.

NOTE: We would greatly appreciate an RSVP, but if you decide to attend last minute, just show up to the Key Chapel by 9am

SESSION 2: GRAVESTONE CLEANING WORKSHOP
Over the past 5 years, our Mount Olivet gravestone cleaning team, "the Stoners," have whitened thousands of marble gravestones dating back to the early 19th century! Our historic section of the cemetery has been transformed by the diligent efforts of our Friends of Mount Olivet Team. Perhaps you want to join our ranks, or learn how to clean stones safely and properly at a cemetery you may be affiliated with. Dottie Olson and Nancy Maddox will be leading this morning workshop and show you what cleaning equipment and solutions you will need for success. under the direction of the Friends of Mount Olivet will show participants our achievements in cleaning and repairing gravestones. They will share tips and best practices of the trade while train participants in the basics with hands-on opportunity to clean gravestones. If you don't want to participate, you are welcome to watch and learn. Dress appropriately and bring a lawn chair if needed.
