2022
2022 Flag Day Program
Tuesday, June 14th @ 7pm
Francis Scott Key Chapel (Rain or Shine)*
Mount Olivet Cemetery
Frederick, Maryland
As part of our annual author's talk, we will hear about a Mount Olivet "resident" through the form of a book written by, about, or connected to said decedent. This year's subject will be Frederick diarist Jacob Engelbrecht who kept a diary chronicling Frederick events from 1819-1878. Engelbrecht was the son of an early Hessian soldier imprisoned here during the Revolutionary War. Jacob worked as a tailor and served as mayor of Frederick at the end of the American Civil War.
Immediately following our lecture by Jim Callear from Heritage Frederick, we will be unveiling an interpretive wayside marker at Jacob Engelbrecht's grave in Area H. Light refreshments will be served.
*(This is scheduled as an outdoor event, please bring a lawn chair)
