Rain or shine, our World War II monument in Area EE will be the site of our opening ceremony for Wreaths Across America on Saturday December 14th at 12 noon. All volunteers are welcome to participate as we will be placing wreaths among the cemetery’s 4000+ veteran graves.
Parking available at Harry Grove Stadium/Nymeo Field as we will open a side gate for pedestrian traffic that will bring participants in about 100 yards from the WWII monument. Others can park within the cemetery up front near the FSK Chapel or back by the Mausoleum Chapel and Administrative Offices.

Our opening Ceremony begins at 12 noon with a color guard and speakers at the World War II Monument in Area EE. Instructions will be given and followed by placement of wreaths on veteran graves by volunteer participants on hand. We are only assigning a few sections this year to extremely large groups. This event is open to all ages.
Keep in mind that we have well over 4,000 vets buried here in Mount Olivet. If we do not receive enough wreath sponsorships, we will not be able to mark every veteran grave with a wreath. If this is the case, we will likely be selecting specific areas to cover fully. That said, we will be placing the exact number of wreaths for individual cemetery sections which we call Areas. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE a wreath from one Area of the cemetery, and walk across one of our roadways to place on another Area. Again, we will have the exact number needed for each Area and this will cause us to be short! Thank you.
We invite those interested in sponsoring wreaths!!! This can be done through purchasing wreaths using the link below. The link will take you to the secure Wreaths Across America website where you will find participating partner groups of our Mount Olivet Cemetery WAA event on December 14th. You may sponsor through any of these partners. Please consider donating through the Friends of Mount Olivet offering in which we have the opportunity to donate additional wreaths through this fundraising endeavor.

SPECIAL NOTE: If we do not meet our total wreaths needed, we ask that additional wreaths be donated by the public for the graves of ancestors, relatives, friends or other veterans who may be perfect strangers. Placement can be done on Wreaths Across America Day, Saturday, Dec 14th, or any day thereafter....just look for military graves throughout Mount Olivet designated with flaglets. (We will share a list of those uncovered sections here on FaceBook if necessary.)
