COVID-19 UPDATE
Mount Olivet is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and is following the protocols outlined by the CDC, the Maryland Department of Health, and Maryland Office of Cemetery Oversight. At this time, we are operating as follows:
The Grounds: The grounds of the cemetery proper remain open to the public from dawn to dusk.
Tourists and Visitors: Maps and general information remain available at the kiosk near the Francis Scott Key Monument and front gate. Visitors can use our burial search at this kiosk to find particular graves, or can call our office for assistance: (301) 662-1164 during regular business hours.
Public Programs and History Questions: We are canceling all special activities for the immediate future. Please email [email protected] for any updates regarding the Friends of Mount Olivet membership group.
Cemetery Business: Our Business Office has remained open in order to accommodate families in need, regardless of COVID-19. Our hours of operation are 8:30am-4pm (Monday-Friday) and by special appointment if necessary. Contact info is listed below:
Superintendent, J. Ronald Pearcey* [email protected]
Sales, Rick Reeder [email protected]
Customer Sales & Support, Meghan Murphy [email protected]
Community Relations & Historic Preservation, Chris Haugh [email protected]
(*If unsure of recipient, please send queries to Superintendent Ron Pearcey)
Sales: We suggest sales appointments be booked in advance.
Burial Services: We will continue to perform all scheduled burials, however, if necessary, we will be abiding by mandated visitor gathering size guidelines that limit these to immediate family. Currently there are no restrictions but we ask that common sense is used in respect to social distancing and mask usage.
Memorial Services: We have suspended the use of our mortuary and mausoleum chapels until further notice. We will gladly work with families to reschedule memorial and remembrance services both inside and out, traditional burial or cremain inurnment, for a later date.
We will continue to update this page with announcements about any further changes to our daily operations.
