Monument "Hall of Fame"
Welcome to a unique virtual repository, the Mount Olivet Monument Hall of Fame. Nominees are chosen each year by our Friends of Mount Olivet members, with seven recipients eventually being inducted into the Hall. The announcement of our official inductees takes place each August at our annual Friends' picnic celebration and includes a walking tour.
We found it best to frame the new “Hall of Fame” solely on the monuments, themselves, and not particularly the person(s) buried beneath. It is the above-ground masterpiece of art and craftmanship that provides necessary criteria for consideration, nomination and eventual election. Unlike other "Halls of Fame," our gallery of inductees sprawls across our 100+ acre cemetery property as the memorials are already in place, some have been for well over a century and a half in our "museum without walls."
